Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Chips Japan BRICKS cutlery dishwasher safe?

Yes, the Chips Japan BRICKS cutlery is designed to be dishwasher safe. However, to maintain their original exterior and avoid discolourations, we recommend hand washing whenever possible.

What's the inspiration behind the cutlery design by Chips Japan BRICKS collection?

Both styles have been inspired by sukkara, the traditional Korean spoon.

Sukkara is an indispensable part of traditional Korean cuisine. The long handle, shallow bottom, and wide scoop make it very easy for eating, cooking and serving.

The spoon is large and shallow and the fork has an unusual design with the middle slightly lowered. Both are easy to use and feel well balanced.

What ceramic platters go well with the BRICKS cutlery from Chips Japan?

At Gifu, we favour the oval shaped ceramics when pairing with the BRICKS cutlery. The longer length allows the serveware to sit well on the platter or plate. Styles like Koyo Japan Oval Orbit Plates or GIFU Ware Oval Plates are perfect.

Other styles that work well are the Acacia Wooden Plates in all sizes, due to it's flat shape the cutlery still sits well on the smaller plates in this range. Gifu Ware Kigoromo, Urumi and Genbu plates are among favourites too. The mid-century design in these collections suit longer handled cutlery for both practicality and looks.

Many large bowls in our tableware collection are paired well with the BRICKS cutlery too, for dishes like pasta or large salads.
